Three key stats from Leicester’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool
Jamie Vardy’s double and Danny Drinkwater’s sublime volley ensured that Leicester City began life after Claudio Ranieri with a huge victory over Liverpool at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
The hosts, who sacked Ranieri less than a season after becoming Premier League champions, began the match in the relegation places but started with intent, keeping Liverpool camped in their half.

Vardy scored his, and Leicester’s, first league goal of 2017 with a composed front post finish before Drinkwater scored one of the goals of the season so far with an outrageous 20-yard volley.
Vardy then doubled his tally with a close-range header, and despite Philippe Coutinho’s neat effort into the corner Leicester held firm to secure a much-needed victory after a troublesome week.
The Foxes now sit 15th in the Premier League table whilst another damaging defeat for Liverpool in 2017 sees them remain a point behind Arsenal, only one ahead of rivals Manchester United in 6th.
