Three key moments as Tottenham eased past Fulham in the FA Cup
Tottenham Hotspur are through to the FA Cup Quarter-finals following a routine victory against Championship side Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Despite looking like a tricky away tie Spurs’ victory never seemed in doubt as they put in a much-improved performance compared to the midweek defeat to Gent.
Here are three key moments from the match which helped seal the win…
Opening Goal – 16 minutes
A throw-in taken quickly by Kieran Trippier presented Christian Eriksen with an ideal crossing opportunity which the Dane seized by delivering a dangerous ball just beyond the on-running Harry Kane who was able to slide the ball beyond Marcus Bettinelli into the bottom right corner.
The goal was a fair reward for Spurs’ positive start to the match, having already threatened Bettinelli’s goal in the opening stages. It was also an important lesson for Fulham, showing how quickly an on song Tottenham would punish them; from something as simple as switching off for a throw-in.
An early lead was exactly what Mauricio Pochettino would have wanted after the disappointing Europa League defeat three days earlier.
