Three forwards Tottenham should target as Arsenal reportedly lead Abraham race
Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Tottenham Hotspur-linked Tammy Abraham, according to The Sun.
The publication is claiming that the west Londoners are willing to let the ace join on loan with an obligation to purchase for £40m.
It is a bitter blow to Spurs, who had been offered the Chelsea forward according to The Telegraph.
Spurs are facing issues up front after the bombshell news Harry Kane would like a new challenge.
However, here are three alternatives after news Arsenal are now in the driving seat for Abraham.
Danny Ings
At 28, the Southampton ace is at the more experienced end of the scale.
He has found some remarkable consistency after enduring injury-hell during his time at Liverpool. Ings missed across two seasons due to back-to-back long-term injuries while at Anfield.
However, since his move to St Mary’s Stadium, he has been a model of consistency. The England international scored 34 Premier League goals in the last two campaigns.
With just a year left on his current deal, he would be a cheap alternative to Abraham.
Patrick Bamford
There were many nay-sayers about the former Chelsea man after his poor finishing during Leeds’ promotion campaign.
The ace scored 16 goals in the 2019/2020 season, however he had an xG of . It means the forward scored eight times fewer than he should have.
But he silenced his critics with a sensational campaign for the Whites last year. Bamford struck 17 times as he helped Marcelo Bielsa’s men finish ninth in their first season back in the top flight.
Acquiring him from Leeds may not be too difficult either; especially after Bamford missed out on England’s Euro 2020 squad. You feel as though the forward could well a move to a bigger club to help achieve his international aspirations.
At 27, he is also an experienced option for Nuno Espirito Santo this summer.
Alexandre Lacazette
Probably the most controversial option of the trio, but, hear me out.
If the Blues are willing to let Arsenal sign Abraham, who’s to say Arsenal won’t let Spurs sign Lacazette?
Let’s not forget, the Gunners were more than willing to let Olivier Giroud move across London in 2018.
The Lilywhites were interested in Lacazette prior to his move to Arsenal back in . So, there is scope to believe the Red half of north London will welcome a potential move.
