Three centre-backs West Ham could sign including Bundesliga ‘gladiator’ and Serie A’s ‘best defender’

West Ham United fans should really be proud of the way their side has performed since the start of the season, but they will need to make full use of the January transfer window to get into the top four.
The Hammers are currently fifth in the Premier League table, four points behind Arsenal. The final Champions League spot is up for grabs, but injuries have been really cruel on David Moyes’ side.
Angelo Ogbonna had to undergo surgery after suffering a knee injury, while Kurt Zouma isn’t expected to return until next month. West Ham really need another centre-half and they have been linked with plenty of names over the last few weeks.
Here are three of them Moyes could sign next month.
Three centre-backs West Ham could sign in January
Konstantinos Mavropanos
German outlet reported earlier this month that West Ham are battling Newcastle United to sign the Arsenal-owned centre-half. Mavropanos is currently on loan at Stuttgart, who have an option to sign him for just £2 million at the end of the season.
The report claimed that Stuttgart are planning to sign ‘Dinos’ and sell him for a mammoth profit. A price of £22 million has been reported, and he would be a very interesting signing for the Irons.
by his manager Pellegrino Matarazzo, Mavropanos has been excellent for Stuttgart this year. Arsenal fans are furious with Mikel Arteta for letting him go and West Ham could inflict more pain on the Gunners by signing him in January.

Gleison Bremer
revealed not too long ago that West Ham are interested in signing the 24-year-old central defender, who has been fantastic in the Italian top-flight this season.
Bremer has averaged 1.8 tackles, 3.4 interceptions and 3.8 clearances for Torino this term. He has also scored twice, assisted once and picked up two Man Of The Match awards. ()
Italian outlet labelled the Brazilian as ‘the best defender in all of Serie A’ last month and he could be a fantastic addition to Moyes’ side in January.

Nathaniel Phillips
claimed a few weeks ago that West Ham are interested in signing Liverpool’s Nat Phillips in January. Moyes wants a player who knows the Premier League well and the 24-year-old checks that box.
Phillips is nowhere near the top of Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order at the moment. The Liverpool boss even opened the door for the centre-half to leave in January, claiming that he will ‘not block’ a move if an offer arrives. ()
revealed that the Hammers can sign Phillips for just £12 million next month. That could prove to be a huge bargain for West Ham.
