Thomas Tuchel praises ‘impressive’ Arsenal player ahead of Champions League clash

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has singled out one Arsenal player for praise ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash.

The Gunners face a huge game against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening as they bid to take a step closer towards the semi-finals.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping to put home advantage to use this evening against a Bayern side which has lost consecutive games in the Bundesliga.

Arsenal head into the game in exceptional form having won 10 of their last 11 Premier League games.

There is no getting away from the fact that Arteta’s side head into the tie as favourites as Thomas Tuchel’s men have underwhelmed this season.

The German boss is set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer and the Champions League represents his only realistic chance to deliver silverware this term.

Tuchel is aware of the task at hand given Arsenal’s brilliant run of form this year and the Bayern boss has highlighted one Gunners star as a threat.

Tuchel praises Odegaard ahead of Arsenal vs Bayern

Speaking to the ahead of tonight’s clash at the Emirates Stadium, Tuchel singled out Odegaard for praise.

“I think Arsenal defines itself as a team which is outstanding and enjoyable to watch,” he said.

“They don’t rely heavily on individual solutions to win matches consistently. They are very impressive. But Odegaard is one of the key players. We love where he loves to start his actions, we know very well how he wants to start them and the connections between him and Bukayo Saka.

“I hope that we find the right solutions and the players will find the key to make life difficult for him.

“It’s impressive how he’s developed as a captain and he’s one of the players we’re trying to stop.”

Odegaard stats for Arsenal in the Champions League this season

The Arsenal skipper has once again been key to Arteta’s side this term and has been ever-present in the Champions League.

Odegaard has registered two goals and one assist in seven appearances in the competition.

The man has already insisted that Arsenal have no reason to fear Bayern and former Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Tuchel is right to highlight the threat Odegaard poses as the 25-year-old often dictates the pace of games from the middle of the park.

If Bayern are to pull off an upset, they will have to keep the likes of Odegaard quiet, while also dealing with Arsenal’s exciting attacking players.
