‘He had a different opinion’: Thomas Tuchel takes aim at Antonio Conte for what he did during FT handshake

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has taken a swipe at Tottenham manager Antonio Conte for what happened at full-time today.

Both Tuchel and Conte had been booked earlier in the contest as emotions ran high in a fiercely contested London derby at Stamford Bridge. Harry Kane’s last minute header had sent the away end – and Conte – into raptures, and things boiled over at full-time.

With Conte and Tuchel approaching each other to shake hands, both managers appeared to not want to let go of the others hand, and it led to some unsavoury scenes on the touchline. And speaking after the game, Tuchel has hinted that Conte was to blame for the problems.

“I thought when we shake hands you looked in each other eyes, he he had a different opinion. It was not necessary but a lot of things were not necessary,” Tuchel said. ()

For Tuchel, it was a disappointing end to the game after his Chelsea side had gone into a 2-1 lead thanks to Reece James’ well-taken second-half finish.

TBR’s View: Tuchel And Conte Both Passionate

It’s not really what people want to see in terms of an example to young fans watching on. But on the flip side of things, some at Chelsea and Spurs will enjoy seeing their managers so passionate.

Tuchel and Conte will have different views on this incident but it will all blow over eventually. It was just a big moment in the heat of battle and something that will be talked about and quickly forgotten.

Tottenham and Chelsea went toe to toe today and it was a fine Premier League advert. At the end of the day, it was billed as Super Sunday, and it certainly delivered.
