‘I mean it’: Thomas Tuchel admits he’s worried about what’s going on at Tottenham under Conte this summer

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has admitted to being a little worried by how the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal are continuing to improve their teams.

Tuchel has seen the Chelsea board sanction the departure of Romelu Lukaku but, in turn, he’s been backed with the signing of Raheem Sterling as well, a signing Tuchel admitted was his ‘priority’.

However, over in North London, Tottenham are super active in the market after adding players like Bissouma, Perisic, and Richarlison among others. Arsenal, meanwhile, have landed Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City while the likes of Fabio Vieira have also come in to bolster the ranks.

And Tuchel, speaking to , has admitted Chelsea are competing against some top teams this season.

“I mean it when I said we fight against the best teams and the best coaches, which does not make life easier and they set the bar so high last season, but we start again from scratch,”

“If you look at the transfer period of Tottenham with Antonio Conte, it’s maybe the strongest team they ever built. Manchester United will not give in, Arsenal will not give in, they’ve made two big signings already, so we are aware of the situation and try to do our best to be competitive,” Tuchel said.

It won’t just be Thomas Tuchel taking note of Spurs. The likes of Liverpool and Man City will be looking at Antonio Conte with a bit of envy and wondering just how good his Tottenham team can be.

There’s been some fantastic signings both at Arsenal and Tottenham. While for Chelsea, as Tuchel notes, there is a bit of rebuilding to be done.

However, he can’t grumble. Chelsea have backed him by landing Sterling and more will follow. From there, it will be an intense scramble for those top four places.
