Well, the German giants have handed out a few memorable thrashings when facing Arsenal over the years, famously recording a 10-2 aggregate win over the Gunners back in 2016/17.

Now – however – Arsenal are a different animal, with Mikel Arteta turning the north Londoners into a real force, something Muller acknowledged when reacting to the draw as he sent a message to his fellow countryman too.

The Germany international in a video on Instagram: “Well, it’s Arsenal! Kai Havertz – my friend – I am waiting for you. No, it’s a nice draw, two very good teams, two very good stadiums, two very good cities. It will be tough, but I am always positive. See you Gunners.”

Bayern Munich reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-final after recording a 3-1 win over Lazio across two legs in the Round of 16, with Harry Kane netting two goals and Muller one.

Mikel Arteta will be wary

Arteta will presumably be confident about Arsenal’s chances of reaching the semi-final, although the Spaniard will surely be wary of Muller and Kane.

The latter has remarkably scored goals in just 19 appearances against Arsenal throughout his career.

Kane also has goals in just 34 appearances this season, so he is certainly one for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes to keep a close eye on.

In regards to Muller, the experienced German has scored goals in 149 UEFA Champions League appearances – winning the competition twice – so he will also be more than prepared for this fixture.

Whatever happens, it is sure to be a highly entertaining spectacle.
