Thomas Christiansen and Pontus Jansson react to latest Leeds United update
Pablo Hernandez has put an end to doubts over his Leeds United future by agreeing a new two-year deal that will keep him at Leeds until the end of the 2020-21 season – and Thomas Christiansen and Pontus Jansson have reacted to his Instagram post.
Hernandez, 34, has shone for Leeds since joining the club in the summer of 2016 under Garry Monk, becoming a fan’s favourite during his 132 appearances for the Whites. In that time, he has scored 29 goals and created 32 more.
Despite being well into his thirties, the former Spain international and Valencia man still seems fit enough to cope with both the Championship and Marcelo Bielsa’s training regimes. Some Leeds fans believe he is ageing like a fine wine.
Hernandez posted on Instagram after agreeing a new two-year deal, a deal which should see him make his most career appearances for Leeds – after clocking up 157 for Valencia.
Hernandez has been used as a substitute during Leeds’ last two league outings against QPR and Blackburn, with summer signing Helder Costa retaining his place in the side. It remains to be seen if Hernandez will start against Luton on Saturday.
A whole host of Leeds players, as well as ex-Leeds manager Christiansen and summer exit Jansson reacted by commenting on Hernandez’s Instagram post to congratulate the Spaniard. Jansson’s message is translated as “Pablito, best wishes”.
Christiansen’s comment, meanwhile, is: “Congratulations Pablo. I’m glad for you and your family.”
