‘This was true’: Tottenham could’ve signed red-hot Champions League star for just £20m – agent

claims Tottenham Hotspur could’ve signed red-hot Champions League star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for just £20 million.

Kvaratskhelia made the switch to Napoli over the summer after a spell in the Russian league with Rubin Kazan.

The 21-year-old has been putting in some seriously impressive displays in Italy and in the Champions League.

The Georgian winger already has 18-goal involvements in just 16 games for Luciano Spalletti’s men, with Napoli sitting top of Serie A at the moment.

Now, Emile has revealed that Tottenham could have signed the winger for just £20 million before he sealed a switch to Naples.

, Emile was asked about rumours surrounding Spurs and Juventus in the past.

“All those clubs you mentioned were interested in Kvaratskhelia, more so the clubs you heard in the media in Germany, England and Italy. This was true,” he responded.

“They were all interested in him. Eventually when his name came about and we started proposing him more and more, people consider quality. Clubs saw the quality.

“However, there’s a difference between understanding the quality and putting the money down. At that time, Rubin [Kazan] were asking [for] £20 million. Now everyone can say he’s worth much more than that, even at that time he had been playing senior football for three years.

“He was scoring four or five goals per season, assisting four times per season. For a young boy in a strong league, it’s not bad. Ok, it’s not fantastic but it’s not bad.

“But I think clubs were not so secure to spend this £20 million in the Covid times, they don’t have much background information about him because he’s not coming from a big football country.”

The CAA Base agent went on to explain that Kvaratskhelia was offered to many top clubs but only Napoli were willing to make a concrete offer.

claimed earlier this month that Spurs were very close to moving for the winger over the summer.

Kvaratskhelia’s form this season may leave Spurs with some regrets that they didn’t snap up the winger for just £20 million.

The talented attacker has been in scintillating form for Napoli and even put in a dazzling display against Liverpool recently.

Spurs are slightly short in the attacking department too, with recent injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison highlighting this.

Napoli will have no intention of considering offers for Kvaratskhelia after his performances. This looks to be another opportunity that Tottenham will regret massively.
