Jack Grealish has taken to Twitter in anger after reading an article written by the Birmingham Mail’s Ashley Preece.

The piece in question takes aim at Grealish for his comments about Aston Villa, ever since he joined Manchester City in a record deal.

Preece believes it’s now all about the JR10 brand, rather than the innocent, boyhood Aston Villa fan who simply loved playing for the Villans.

It’s safe to say Grealish is furious.

In our view, he has every right to be.

Yes, he may be accused of getting caught up in the hype right now, but it’s hard not to – he’s arguably one of the hottest players in Europe right now.

There was a release clause – a massive one at that – and it was met.

Grealish is still able to love Aston Villa, and also be keen to further his career by playing at the highest level in the Champions League.

That is something the overly tribal football fan of today simply can’t get their head around, unfortunately.

Grealish didn’t exactly hand in a transfer request and refuse to train.

In fact, Harry Kane’s behaviour was ten times worse over the summer, although you don’t see Tottenham’s media outlets take aim at the striker like Preece has done to Grealish.

It felt excessively personal. Of course, football is a passionate game, and Preece’s article clearly came from the heart.

However, when such passion gets in the way of logic, it sets a dangerous precedent.
