‘Robbed blind’, ‘this is a disaster’: Some fans react after hearing Newcastle are signing their ‘star’
Newcastle United are reportedly about to make their second signing of the January transfer window.
According to multiple outlets including , the Magpies are closing in on Burnley striker Chris Wood.
claim Wood is travelling to Tyneside to undergo a medical with Newcastle.

The Magpies have reportedly met Wood’s £20million release clause.
He’s seemingly joining Kieran Trippier in arriving at St James’ Park this month.
This is the first transfer window for the new Newcastle owners and it’s an absolutely crucial one for them.
Wood is a key player for Burnley, having finished as their in three seasons.
The New Zealand international has netted at least 10 goals in each of his four top-flight seasons with them.
A player with experience in Premier League relegation battles, Wood is perfect for Newcastle at this moment in time.
In addition, his departure weakens Burnley, who are just one place above the Magpies in the bottom three.
Needless to say, some of their fans aren’t happy that Wood is joining Newcastle, not to mention such a low buyout clause:

What’s happening?
If you were to contemplate selling your star striker to a relegation rival, you would not only need to be *very* well compensated, but you would also need to have a ready-made replacement lined up…
Wood at £20m for is a steal quite frankly, Burnley have been robbed blind

Best striker at the club by a long shot and, in today’s market, has been let go for peanuts to a relegation rival
That’s poor from the board to include the clause in the first place
I’ve never been a fan of Wood but in the middle of a season where there is not many options to replace him this is a disaster. Newcastle tried to sign others that we will probably try for now. Not looking good

Clever move from Newcastle, weaken a direct relegation rival

Wood will get very limited game time once they start buying superstars but for the next 2/3 seasons he’ll do well financially
Me too mate, obviously it isn’t over till the fat lady Sings but our last game of the season….we play Newcastle!! I’m gutted

Gutted to hear Chris Wood leaving. He’s been first class ever since we signed him. He’s been used as a scapegoat this season when we’ve struggled and he’s been feeding off scraps.

Clever business by Newcastle. Wouldn’t be surprised if we look at Kieffer Moore.
