Thierry Henry picks out five games which will decide whether Arsenal can win the Premier League

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has now been considering if Mikel Arteta’s side can actually win the Premier League this season.

Arteta and his squad came incredibly close last season, but unfortunate injuries and a lack of experience ultimately proved costly.

But almost 12 months on, Arsenal do appear to be in a much better position, especially given the arrival of Declan Rice.

Along with the likes of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, the England midfielder is now absolutely crucial to any hopes of success this season.

And whilst Henry would probably agree with those sentiments, the striker was focused on another aspect of Arsenal’s play.

Speaking on , Henry was particularly pleased to see Arsenal’s finishing had improved.

The Frenchman thought Arteta’s side had looked incredibly impressive in recent games, even without Gabriel Jesus.

And when Henry considered if Arsenal could win the Premier League, he pointed out the five games that would be most crucial.

Thierry Henry says Arsenal can win the Premier League if they finish strongly

Speaking during CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage, Henry thought the last away games of the season would prove pivotal.

He said: “Well when you are third you don’t feel comfortable, the only thing I will say, I wasn’t so much surprised about the result against Burnley – not having a go at Burnley, I was more surprised with the win at West Ham, especially the way they played.

“They knocked us out in the Carabao Cup, they beat us at home, so I thought that was going to be a very difficult game and we went and won there 6-0 and you beat Burnley 5-0.

“Where I’m kind of happy, I mentioned it, the front three not scoring enough goals, and people jumped straight away on the bandwagon of saying they need a striker.

“They needed to finish their opportunities, because they have so many opportunities, and I can show you games where they have way easier chances than the ones they scored recently.

“But they didn’t put the ball into the back of the net, and when we are in a situation when we create chances and put the ball in the back of the net, even playing without Gabriel Jesus, we can be very difficult to beat.

“But the games away from home, the last five games away from home, will decide the title for us at Arsenal.”

No repeat of last year

Of course, many Arsenal fans will probably completely agree with Henry’s parameters for going one better and winning the Premier League this season.

William Saliba’s injury was incredibly costly last year, a situation everyone will want to avoid thus.

And as well as their form in away games, it does seem as if the fitness of key players will be equally as important.

That being said, Mikel Arteta is only expected to make one change to his starting XI against FC Porto tonight.
