Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher agree over whether Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will win the Ballon d’Or this year
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has arguably been the best player in the world this season.
The Egypt international is the Reds’ most important attacker, and every time they need a solution in the final third, they turn to him.
Salah has consistently delivered this season, and he is the biggest reason why Liverpool are on top of the Premier League table right now.
The focus now will be on a strong finish to the season, but Salah could have an eye on another big prize too in the coming months.
Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards deliver Ballon d’Or verdicts on Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah
Every player would love to win the Ballon d’Or one day.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi dominated the competition for over a decade, but there’s now room for other players to stake their claim.
Manchester City midfielder Rodri won the Ballon d’Or last year, beating Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior to the biggest individual trophy in the game.
Salah is a strong contender for the award in 2025.
On CBS Sports, Kate Abdo asked Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards who they think will win the Ballon d’Or this year.
Carragher replied: “Mohamed Salah!”
Henry agreed with him and said: “I’m with Jamie, yeah, if he carries on like that.”
Richards wasn’t as confident as the other two but still went with the Liverpool man. He said: “He (Vinicius Junior) is my mate but probably Salah as well.”
When Henry then said “It depends on what they will win”, Richards added: “Yeah, Vini or Salah.”
Mohamed Salah vs Vinicius Junior stats this season
Richards is right, the battle for the Ballon d’Or will likely be between Salah and Vinicius.
The two wingers are among the best players in the world, and both are really important for their respective sides.
But, the stats show that there’s one clear winner.
Games | Goals | Assists | |
Mohamed Salah | 34 | 26 | 18 |
Vinicius Junior | 30 | 16 | 11 |
Salah is significantly ahead of Vinicius in terms of goals and assists, but one big criterion will be the trophies each player will win.
Both of them are the favourites to win their respective domestic league titles. So, it could all come down to who wins the Champions League.
The Ballon d’Or ceremony in 2025 will be held in Paris on the 27th of October.
