Thiago says Liverpool have a ‘world-class’ player that he can ‘rely on’ on the pitch

that Liverpool teammate Fabinho is a “world-class” player. Asked about the Brazil international, Thiago was full of praise – stating he can “rely” on the defensive midfielder to cover him when needed.

Fabinho, 28, is widely regarded as one of the more underrated players in Jurgen Klopp’s brilliant Liverpool side. But those with a Liverpool affiliation will regard him as one of Michael Edwards’ best-ever signings.

Bought for just £39million () from Monaco, Fabinho has gone on to play 140 times for Liverpool in just three and a half years. His role in front of the defence has seen him earmarked as one of the best in the world.

Of course, Fabinho is also versatile. He can play as a central defender, further on in midfield – or even at right-back. Though that is something more seen of him at Monaco. Thiago was full of praise for his teammate.

“He’s a world-class player that gives us confidence to try different things. Because if we fail doing that, we know we have a guy we can rely on. He will defend, he will be there for you and also, he is a magnificent player on the ball.”

Thiago on Fabinho: Liverpool star clearly loved by his Anfield teammates

Thiago’s explanation as to why Fabinho is rated so highly by his teammates shows just how much respect the Brazil international has in the dressing room. His ability to mop up when an attack breaks down, commands admiration.

Liverpool’s Thiago states that having him there allows the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and himself to try and break down a defence – but he is there in case of a counter.

Fabinho has a telepathic-like knowledge of where to be on a football pitch. Whether that be covering a full-back or dictating the midfield. The way he plays, he could be crucial for Liverpool for many more years to come.
