Thiago Alcantara says Liverpool have a superb player in their ranks who’s ‘intelligent’ and ‘strong’
Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has waxed lyrical about Reds teammate Fabinho, praising his intelligence and strength on the pitch.
The Brazil international has done superbly for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, both whilst covering in defence and in his traditional midfield role.
Indeed, Fabinho’s return to midfield has freed Thiago up to play his natural game, with Liverpool winning all seven of the games in which the two have started together in the centre.
“When I came here, I knew how Fabinho was as a football player, what he has done here and what he did at Monaco, but I didn’t know him personally,” Thiago told .
“He is a very smart and intelligent player. He knows how and where to be on the pitch, and he has great strength in challenges. He’s there, he’s strong and he wins all the battles for us.
“Sometimes he has to handle not just his own player but my player or another teammate’s player as well, but he does a great defensive job and you can see also that sometimes he goes forward in an offensive way and does amazingly for us as well.”

It’s taken Thiago a while to get fully up and running amid injury and illness issues as well as finding his feet in the team, but with Fabinho alongside him, the former Bayern Munich man is now showing the class worthy of one of the world’s best midfielders.
Liverpool have endured a difficult season but, with one game left, they’re still on track to reach the Champions League, and after they regroup in the summer, hopefully we’ll see a rampant and defensively sound Reds side once again.
