‘They wanted it more than us’: some Crystal Palace fans react to Brighton loss
On Saturday afternoon, Crystal Palace fell to a devastating 2-1 home loss to rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Seagulls took the lead through Glenn Murray before the ever-dependable Luka Milivojevic equalised from the spot.
But late in the match, Anthony Knockaert struck to inflict heartbreak on the Eagles with a lovely curling effort.
At full-time, Palace fans rued a lack of effort and expressed their frustration at the club’s poor record at Selhurst Park.
One fan pointed out the remarkable statistic that only bottom club Huddersfield have a worse home record than Palace all season — a stunning indictment of the Eagles’ insipid home form.
13 points from 15 home games this season, only Huddersfield have a worse home record.
It might be a golden time to be a Palace fan overall but you can’t blame the thousands who turn up every other week for feeling down about our play.

The formation was the culprit for some supporters, who questioned Roy Hodgson’s tactical approach against the Seagulls.
Definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing when it clearly isn’t working…. why do we keep playing 4-3-3 at home when it isn’t working. Works a dream away but try something else at home. Should have started Benteke and Batman together and put schlupp in at LB for PVA

To me, starting without either one of Meyer or Kouyate was an error from Roy and we paid for it with a lack of invention in midfield throughout.
He set us up to stifle them rather than dictate the play and it backfired.

Set up to stifle the team with the worst record in all 4 leagues this year. That sums up the negative tactics at home this season that has cost us numerous points.

Left back Patrick van Aanholt also drew the ire of the Palace faithful, after some criticised his performance and questioned whether there was enough competition for his spot.
I could of done a better job than Van Aanholt today. Lad needs to step his game up been terrible in recent weeks.

Read Van Aanholt’s tweets pre-game every game, he wants it, he knows he’s got the quality but just doesn’t perform anymore.

The lack of competition at LB for Van Aanholt fills me with dread.
Likeable guy or not, he was woeful today but with Schlupp now seen as a centre mid we have no real cover for him on the left.

And at the end of the day, the limp Crystal Palace performance was slammed for its lack of passion, drive, and determination in a pivotal derby encounter.
They wanted it more than us in both boxes.
It absolutely kills me to say it but it’s true.

The players should be ashamed. Don’t like bashing the team but two games the fans care most about and we’ve been let down both times….that display was just lacklustre and wet
