‘They can’t play’: Tim Sherwood suggests Antonio Conte actually told Spurs not to sign £150k-a-week superstar

Tim Sherwood has suggested Antonio Conte could have brought Christian Eriksen back to Tottenham but decided not to.

Eriksen joined Manchester United on a free transfer in the summer, after Brentford took a chance on him last season, but only han🌳ded him a short-term contract.

The Dane is playing in a deeper midfield role at Old Trafford, 🅘dictating games from there and offeri🀅ng the kind of option that Conte does not have in that role.

But Sherwood told this week’s that he thinks Conte does not want that kind of ♚player in the heart of his m🍬idfield.

Sherwood on Conte and Eriksen

He said: “You think they need that (about Tottenha🍸m needing a cܫreative player).

“But the manager doesn’t want that. He had the opportunity to take Christian Eriksen back there. He had him at Inter Milan. Eriksen started 13 ti♋mes. He doesn’t want creativity.

“Some of the greatest players we have ever seen at Tottenham are Glenn Hoddle and Paul Gascoign🧸e.

“They can’t play for Antonio Conte. He doesn’t want that type of player. It𝕴’s not what he is looking for.”

Eriksenಌ is earning a £150,000-a-week at United, and is all set to go to the World Cup with Denmark when it k𓆏icks off later this month.

He has adjusted ﷺto life at United superbly well as Erik ten Hag has dislodged the Scott McTominay and Fred axis preferred by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That said, Conte has Totte💦nham three points and one place ahead of United – albeit having played a game more – so his transfer decisions have not worked out too badly𓃲 so far.
