‘There’s potential’…ESPN pundit names Manchester United’s three best players against Tottenham

Don Hutchison has named the three Manchester United players he thought were their best performers against Tottenham on Sunday, insisting that they are the ones with some potential.

Erik ten Hag’s side led twice against Spurs. And Scott McTominay had a golden opportunity to win the game late on. However, it is fair to say that Manchester United were second best for much of the fixture at Old Trafford.

United were poor in possession, something which clearly annoyed Christian Eriksen at one stage. And Tottenham certainly played the better football for much of the game, particularly in the second-half.

Rasmus Hojlund among Manchester United players praised after Tottenham draw

There were some positives for the home side. Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring with an emphatic finish in the first three minutes. And Marcus Rashford did well to put United back in front before the break.

And speaking on , Don Hutchison suggested that the pair, alongside Alejandro Garnacho, stood out in an underwhelming lineup.

“When you look at that team there, with no disrespect whatsoever, it’s an average team. I thought their three best players today were Rashford, Hojlund and Garnacho,” he said.

“That’s where probably you can try, if you’ve got any optimism whatsoever, you can look to those three and go they’re dynamic, they’re goalscorers, obviously not this season, but there’s potential in them. But the rest of them, it’s a really average team.”

Lots of work ahead for Erik ten Hag

Garnacho enjoyed a superb battle with Destiny Udogie on United’s right flank. Meanwhile, Hojlund will hope that he has turned a corner after his second league goal in fairly quick succession.

Hojlund has needed some time since his move to Old Trafford. But he has shown in the past that he can be a decent goalscorer at the highest level. In fact, Hojlund was tipped over the weekend to become one of the best strikers in the world in the future.

Marcus Rashford showed what he is capable of last season. He has definitely not got close to hitting those heights this year. But his potential is obvious.
