Angus Kinnear that Leeds United should have two contract extensions to announce in the coming weeks.

Contracts signed

Leeds have not been particularly busy this summer, in terms of incoming additions, but they are aiming to keep the core of their squad together.

Marcelo Bielsa, himself, has not yet extended his contract – although he is expected to.

And it seems that Leeds could have some players putting pen to paper in the next few days too.

“We have [got players ready to sign new deals]. There should be a couple more announced across the next few days,” Kinnear said.

“It enforces that strategy we’ve had since we got promoted, which was to get the players on long-term contracts and ensure they are committed to Leeds for the long term.”

Phillips and Bamford?

Kinnear did not go on record as suggesting who these players were, but Leeds have been linked with tying down the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford.

If those two were to commit their futures to Leeds that would be huge news for the Whites, given their growing reputations.

Phillips had a wonderful Euro 2020 tournament with England, where he started in every game.

Bamford, meanwhile, proved his ability to score in the Premier League last term – and he could be even stronger with a year’s experience under his belt.

Leeds kick their season off on Saturday, with a clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
