‘There is no way’… BBC journalist suggests £20m player will not be making late move to Arsenal

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are unlikely to sell Callum Wilson to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the final days of the January transfer window.

𓆏That is according to BBC Sport journalist Luke Edwards, who has stated why Newcastle may keep Wilson for the rest of the season.

So, what has been reported about Newcastle United striker and Arsenal target Callum Wilson? Let’s take a look.

Newcastle United unlikely to sell Arsenal target Callum Wilson

꧙Well, according to BBC Sport and The Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards, Newcastle United are unlikely to sell Callum Wilson before the January transfer window shuts next week.

ꦯEdwards has noted that Wilson is just one of two recognised centre-forwards in the Newcastle squad, adding that there is no way that the Magpies would consider selling the £20 million () England international striker to a top-five rival.

🐲Newcastle are still in the race for the UEFA Champions League places in the Premier League table this season. Arsenal are aiming to win the title.

has reported that Arsenal are among the clubs💮 who are interested in signing Wilson, adding that Newcastle could sell him in the final days of the January transfer window for £18 million.

✨Edwards said about Wilson on the : “I can’t see Callum Wilson leaving and the reasons are this. It would be tempting from a business point of view, but from a football perspective, for Eddie Howe the manager, how could you possibly sanction the sale of one of your only two specialist centre forwards who is just on the brink of returning from his latest injury?

🦄“He has been a key man at Newcastle ever since he arrived, England international, even though he is 31 – Newcastle are still pushing for a European place, they are still in the FA Cup. You could not write off the season. So there is no way that he is going to let Callum Wilson go to a top five rival.

ꦜ“In the summer, I suspect Newcastle will sign another centre-forward as part of succession planning, he will be worried that he will be behind Alexander Isak and this new signing, and Callum Wilson doesn’t want to be third choice centre-forward anywhere.”

My View: Arsenal should not chase Callum Wilson in January

𝔍In my opinion, Arsenal should not waste their time trying to sign Callum Wilson from Newcastle United in the final few days of the January transfer window.

ℱI do not think that Newcastle will sell Wilson, unless, of course, Arsenal offer a ridiculous amount of money.

Now, of course, Wilson, who has been linked with West Ham United as wel🐟l, could himself think that a move to Arsenal would benefit him, but I do not see the striker pushing for an exit so late in the window.
