The unusual thing Tottenham did for Eberechi Eze in 2024 as ‘wooing’ claim made, now confident of agreement
The situation involving Tottenham and Eberechi Eze is starting to heat up.
The England international is firmly in the spotlight after a stunning 2024/25 campaign, in which he scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances for Crystal Palace – including the winner against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
TBR Football understand Tottenham are confident about signing Eze after learning that his £60m release clause can be paid in instalments.
Spurs also believe the Crystal Palace No.10 is keen to join.
As Tottenham continue to pursue a deal for Eberechi Eze this summer, a moment from March 2024 is now quite interesting to look back on.
Eberechi Eze had a box for his entourage to watch Tottenham 3-1 Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Speaking on podcast after Tottenham defeated Crystal Palace 3-1 back in March 2024, Tom Allnutt of The Times said: “It was interesting to me that Eze and his entourage basically had a full box to themselves at Tottenham.
“I don’t know if that’s entirely normal for an opposition player to have a whole suite of their friends and family and presumably, a couple of agents. I know Eze belongs to CAA Base who are an agency very connected with Spurs, but I did wonder if there was a bit of wooing going on there.”
CAA Base do have a strong connection with Tottenham, representing the likes of James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Pape Matar Sarr, Heung-min Son, Richarlison and Djed Spence in addition to the Crystal Palace playmaker.
Eze – who Son praised for scoring a wonderful goal in that aforementioned Premier League clash – was also seen chatting at length with Oliver Skipp, Maddison and Brandon Austin after that London derby, so he does seem to be very closely associated with Tottenham in several ways.
How Eberechi Eze reacted when asked to sign for Tottenham
Eze – who Declan Rice admires – found the net yet again when Crystal Palace recorded a 2-0 win over Tottenham in May last season, scoring both goals before his heroics in the FA Cup final.
After that game, while the man born in Greenwich was signing autographs, one Tottenham fan asked him to come to Spurs.
Eze reacted without saying a word, looking up from the programme he was signing with a glint in his eye and flashing a cheeky grin at the supporter – make of that what you will.
