The three best and worst performers in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Manchester United
Tottenham hosted old rivals Manchester United in their final ever game at White Hart Lane and they lived up to the occasion by claiming a 2-1 win. Spurs were comfortable all afternoon and looked a class above the weakened United side that was put in front of them.
Mauricio Pochettino named a strong starting-XI, despite conceding the title to Chelsea, while Jose Mourinho rested key players ahead of their Europa League Final against Ajax a week Thursday.
It was Harry Kane who claimed the last Spurs goal at White Hart Lane, but he was to be trumped by a senior Englishman in Wayne Rooney, who steered home Anthony Martial’s cross in the second-half.

Harry Kane
Despite not having a huge influence on the game, Kane made sure he aided his team whenever he got the chance to. The Englishman scored what turned out to be the winning goal and was tidy in his hold up play, bringing his teammates into the game while moving his side forward.
Toby Alderweireld
The partnership between Alderweireld and his compatriot Jan Vertonghen has been solid all season and it was similarly strong against Manchester United. Both are deserving of featuring on this list, but the former’s covering and ball-playing ability made him immensely impressive in dealing with United’s attacking threat.
Christian Eriksen
The Denmark international roamed around White Hart Lane all afternoon and United seemed unable to deal with him. The holding midfield partnership of Michael Carrick and Axel Tuanzebe never got near Eriksen and he caused huge problems for the Red Devils. He was most effective from dead-ball situations, however, whipping in a superb cross that Kane steered into the back of the net.
