The team Nico Williams most wants to sign for as Arsenal and Liverpool make contact

TBR Football understands that Nico Williams would like to sign for Barcelona after Arsenal and Liverpool made contact with his camp.

🔯Williams has been linked to a number of clubs over the past six months or so after some dazzling performances at Euro 2024.

Indeed, the attacker was one of the best players at the Euros as Spain won the trophy, and that has led to a number of teams looking at signing Nico Williams.

Williams was Arsenal’s top target in January, and Arsenal could look to do a deal this summer too.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also been linked with Williams.

ꦺHowever, the player’s preference would be to join Barcelona.

Nico Williams wants Barcelona move

According to TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey🌊, Nico Williams’s camp are holding talking with a number of suitors and keeping them informed of his situation.

🅺The Spanish international was in talks with Barcelona last summer. The La Liga giants are understood to be his first choice if he is to leave Bilbao.

Barca remain interested but they have other priorities. As TBR Football revealed Barcelona are looking at Lille’s Jonathan David⭕ to enhance competition to Robert Lewandowski – who looks increasingly likely to stay for at least one more season.

🀅Last summer Barca had considered replacing Raphinha and bringing in Williams to team-up with his good friend, Lamine Yamal, but the Brazilian has since emerged as one of the top players in La Liga.

🌜Now Williams, who has a release clause of £48m, is considering his options.

TBR Football revealed that early in January that Williams was now considering a move to England – something he previously was not when shunning interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

ꦯWe confirmed that the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool were excited by the prospect and that remains the case, indeed there is now a genuine belief that Williams is ready to leave Spain.

Whilst Arsenal and Liverpool remain interested and have had contact with Williams’s camp, we can now confirm that Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa are also keen on the 22-year-old.

Nico Williams stats this season

ꦉWilliams could be on the move this summer as that £48m release clause comes back into effect.

ꦇThe winger could be set to join a European giant, and he’ll be hoping to kick on if he does make a move to one of the premier clubs on the continent.

🌼Indeed, after some incredible outings for Spain over the summer, Williams hasn’t been among the goals all that often this season.

🌊The winger’s stats this season are rather underwhelming it must be said.

😼However, stats aren’t the be-all and end-all of a player’s ability, and, as he showed over the summer, Williams is ready to get a big move.

🧜A number of Premier League clubs are keen, but it would appear that Barcelona are in the driving seat in the race to sign Williams.
