The team Bielsa must pick for Leeds clash with Tottenham on Saturday

Leeds United fans will likely be extremely nervous ahead of the announcement of the team Marcelo Bielsa has selected for the Premier League clash with Tottenham on Saturday.

The Whites go into the game off the back of a humiliating defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday. Of course, their expectations would not have been high for the trip to Anfield.

However, a 6-0 loss against a side who rarely felt the need to get out of second gear was worrying. Unsurprisingly, Adam Forshaw could only pick out the fans as the one positive from the game.

Leeds fans know what they are going to get from Bielsa’s team. But many are crying out for the Argentinian to modify his tactics to just make Leeds a little harder to break down.

It will be interesting to see if Bielsa makes any changes to the lineup on Saturday. Obviously, injuries remain a factor in his team selections. But there is a little more room to make changes ahead of the visit of Antonio Conte’s Tottenham.

And if Bielsa is keen to inject a little more positivity into Elland Road before Saturday’s game kicks off, perhaps there is one lineup that he should select.

Understandably, Illan Meslier, Luke Ayling, Pascal Struijk and Junior Firpo will surely start. Ayling should however, be moved to right-back, with Stuart Dallas moving into the midfield alongside Adam Forshaw.

The pair can provide that additional support to the backline. Certainly, Dallas’ energy in front of the back four could be vital.

Cresswell and ‘special’ Gelhardt need to be promoted to Leeds team for Tottenham clash

The player who would then come in could be Charlie Cresswell, assuming Diego Llorente once again. Cresswell has shone whenever he has played for the first-team this season.

It is a gamble to pick Cresswell. But it is not as if Bielsa would be dropping an in-form player to bring him in.

Further forward, Mateusz Klich and Jack Harrison should come out. Both had bright moments at Anfield. But neither has been in the best form of late.

Daniel James would then move out to the left. He was outstanding in that position against Manchester United. And that opens the door for Joe Gelhardt to start up front.

Gelhardt has the ability to lift the mood just by standing on the touchline waiting to come onto the field. And he caused all sorts of problems against Spurs in the reverse fixture.

He is a ‘special‘ player. And few events would be more satisfying for the supporters than to see Gelhardt score his first Elland Road goal against Tottenham this weekend.

With that in mind, here is the lineup Bielsa should arguably pick when Leeds face Spurs…
