The signing West Ham plan to go for once they land Kalvin Phillips

West Ham United made a significant breakthrough in pursuit of Kalvin Phillips on Tuesday.

 reported that West Ham reached an agreement with Manchester City over a loan deal for Phillips.

An option to make the move permanent in summer will apply if the Hammers agree to meet City’s valuation, added David Ornstein.

West Ham don’t seem to be done yet in the January transfer window, however. According to , they have more signings in mind.

The report has claimed that the Hammers remain in the market for a left-sided forward, with Lucas Paqueta currently on the sidelines due to injury.

West Ham had initially targeted a centre-back this month as well. However, the report doesn’t specify whether they are still in pursuit or whether that’s now on the backburner.

West Ham could do with bolstering their attacking ranks

This is good news. West Ham really could do with getting some more attacking reinforcements through the door amid a spate of injuries up top.

The Hammers didn’t replace Gianluca Scamacca in summer, and Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio have been filling the role this term.

However, Antonio remains sidelined through injury alongside Paqueta. Meanwhile, Mohammed Kudus is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana, though they’re .

A host of forwards have been linked with a move to West Ham this month, including Victor Boniface, Ibrahim Osman and Armando Broja.
