The real reason Timo Werner has signed for Tottenham now
Timo Werner joined Tottenham this week in a rather left-field January transfer move.
The German’s links to Tottenham seemed to come from out of nowhere last week, and within a matter of days, Werner had joined Spurs on loan.
Tottenham needed a new attacker to add more depth to their squad in the absence of Heung-Min Son, but why has Werner signed for Spurs just 18 months after ditching the Premier League after a sorry spell with Chelsea.
Well, speaking on the , Raphael Honigstein has been discussing Werner’s move, and he says that the reason he’s made this transfer at this point is to try and save his hopes of going to the Euros with Germany.

Werner joined Spurs for his Euros hopes
The journalist shared what he knows about Werner’s move.
“It is, but international players are reluctant to move in January unless they really have to. Timo Werner, the reason he’s moving in January is because he has no chance of making the Euros with the way things are going, he needs to reboot his career,” Honigstein said.
Point to prove
Wener wants to get back into the Germany mix and the fact that he has this sort of point to prove could play right into Tottenham’s hands.
Indeed, footballers often find their best form when they’re working towards a goal, and Werner shouldn’t struggle for motivation at Spurs as he desperately tries to get his international career back on track.
Of course, whether or not the striker can wrestle his place in the Germany squad back remains to be seen, but the fact that Julian Nagelsmann knows him well from his time at RB Leipzig could certainly help his case.
