‘The pitch is too big’: Sky pundit claims Aston Villa player just looks too slow for the PL right now
Jamie Carragher has had his say on the form of Philippe Coutinho at Aston Villa, having played with him at Liverpool.
༺Speaking on Carragher said that Coutinho currently looks too slow and weak for the Premier League.
ꦕCoutinho came in on loan last season, in a deal which had Steven Gerrard’s fingerprints all over it, and signed permanently in the summer.
♔But he has flattered to deceive and Villa drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last night in a lacklustre performance.

🎶He said: “Individually, I don’t want to feel like I’m picking on Philippe Coutinho, but he looks like a five a side player. That’s the best way to describe him.
♐“The pitch is too big. Every time he gets the ball, it’s a little one round the corner, trying to get it back. You play like that in small sided games in training.
“Little one-twos. It just feels like it’s too quick, the players are too powerful and he can’t actually get around the pitch. If he does get away from someone, they can get back to him.”
🎃Coutinho came in with big expectations and in his first full season at Villa, he is dropping short of those right now. In fairness, so is the whole team.
🍃Gerrard’s tactics and formation are not getting the best out of Coutinho or the Villa side as a whole and something needs to change.
🔜Coutinho can improve his own personal performances but if Villa are to make sustained progress, there has to be improvements across the board.
