The ‘next Ozil’ who Arsenal really want has just agreed to join Bayern Munich
Arsenal are set to miss out on a rumoured target after he agrees to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his side across a number of areas this summer as he looks to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title.
The North Londoners remain in talks to sign Riccardo Calafiori and are also keeping tabs on Euro 2024 winner Nico Williams.
They were also hoping to add a highly-rated playmaker to their ranks but he’s not just agreed to join Bayern Munich.

Xavi Simons agrees Bayern Munich move
Arsenal have been touted to sign PSG playmaker Xavi Simons over the last few weeks but they now look set to miss out on his signature.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Simons, who has been labelled ‘the next Ozil’ per , has agreed a deal to join European giants Bayern Munich.
Talks are ongoing between the two clubs but Bayern are really pushing to sign the highly sought-after Netherlands international, who netted a stunner against England in the semi-finals of Euro 2024.
RB Leipzig are still in the race and there is a small chance Arsenal could make a late hijack.
Arsenal should focus their attempts on Nico Williams
With the Simons deal now unlikely, Arsenal should focus their attempts on Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, who is believed to be Arteta’s primary target.
The jet-heeled winger would be a real statement signing and one that’d cost a reasonable price, too, due to his £47m release clause.
Johan Bakayoko is also on Arsenal’s shortlist and he is open to a move this summer.
In other news, a £20m Arsenal player is actually partly responsible for holding up deal to sign Riccardo Calafiori
