‘The new Kane’… Tottenham fans wowed by ‘very impressive’ youngster v Hearts

Tottenham Hotspur got their pre-season programme under way on Wednesday evening with a trip to Scottish outfit Hearts.

Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League table last term, qualifying for the Europa League, and will be eager to make a good impression on four fronts this season.

Indeed, things have got off to a great start as Tottenham hit the ground running at Tynecastle, recording a comprehensive 5-1 win against Steven Naismith’s side.

Spurs fans were treated to a solid display from their team, with a number of youngsters and fringe players giving a great account of themselves.

Indeed, one player in particular earned comparisons to none other than Tottenham legend Harry Kane.

Tottenham fans compare Will Lankshear to Harry Kane

The player in question is Will Lankshear, who has been superb for Spurs at academy level since joining from Sheffield United in 2022.

The 19-year-old striker has registered a staggering 30 goals and five assists from just 39 appearances for Tottenham at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level.

And on Wednesday night, Lankshear made an impressive cameo for Spurs, coming on at the break and scoring a superb effort to make it 2-1.

Djed Spence split the Hearts defence with a beautifully weighted through-ball for Lankshear, who finished clinically with an effort low into the far post.

Tottenham fans loved what they saw from Lankshear, with plenty of Harry Kane comparisons being made.

Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 39th minute, before Lawrence Shankland equalised at the start of the second half.

Lankshear put Spurs back in the lead in the 55th minute, before Mikey Moore and Djed Spence struck on 66 and 72 minutes to give the visitors a resounding lead.

Lewis Neilson’s own goal five minutes from time added gloss to the score-line for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham’s next pre-season friendly takes place this Saturday as they take on Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road in a 3pm kick-off.
