The left-field change Marco Silva could make following Bernard injury

Everton winger Bernard is facing a spell on the sidelines after injuring his medial knee ligament against Brighton on Saturday.

the Brazilian has suffered a grade two tear, and further scans will be made to determine the length of time he will be out and the quickest route back to fitness.

It is a big blow for Bernard, who had been in decent form before the injury.

He had made nine appearances this season and scored two goals, including one in the previous Premier League match against West Ham United.

Silva must now consider ways to minimalise the impact of losing the South American, and there’s one alternative switch he should give some thought to.

TBR’s view – Digne further forwards, Delph at left-back?

The most obvious thing to do would be to bring Gylfi Sigurdsson back in at number 10 and move Alex Iwobi out to the left – the Iceland international hasn’t been in good form though.

Richarlison has played left-wing plenty of times but seems more effective these days as a central striker.

Silva should consider boldly moving Lucas Digne into a left-wing position and use Fabian Delph at left-back, a position he is obviously very used to from his time at Manchester City.

Frenchman Digne – who earns £90,000-a-week at Goodison Park () – offers a superb attacking threat for the Toffees and has a fantastic cross on him – perhaps if he is further forward, there will be more opportunities for him to whip the ball in for the aerially dangerous Richarlison.
