‘The key one’… Sky Sports have just said that a ‘string of clubs’ are lining up for 23-year-old Celtic player

With the expectation still looming with the Celtic supporters that the club need to bring in another couple of players, Sky Sports have just reported that one of Brendan Rodgers’ star men is being watched by many clubs across Europe.

O’Riley has been Celtic’s best player this season and already the club has turned down a bid from Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid.

However, it seems that this could not be the end of interest in the 23-year-old as Sky Sports have just reported that a ‘string of clubs’ are keeping tabs on the £10m rated midfielder.

Dave Clarke, speaking live on said, “Matt O’Reilly is the key one, you know, they turned down a bid from Atletico Madrid but it wasn’t just them that have been looking at O’Reilly.

“A whole host of teams across Europe, in the Premier League have been looking at him.

“Inter Milan, Girona in Spain and in the Premier League, Aston Villa and West Ham. They’ve all been looking at O’Reilly. PSV as well in the Eredivisie have been watching him.

“So there’s a string of clubs lining up looking at Matt O’Riley.”

Celtic must not allow Matt O’Riley to leave

The presenter did go on to say that Celtic will not entertain any bids but this update is a testament to just how well O’Riley has been performing this season.

Celtic’s top goalscorer, O’Riley has ten goals to his name this season. The midfielder has also been lauded for his performances in the Champions League where he created three assists for Celtic. []

His ability to pick out a pass and his vision is clearly something that has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs but the comforting thing for the fans is that the club have no intention of letting their star player leave.

Not in this window anyway. After signing a new five-year-deal in the summer, the club will be heavily recompensed when the time comes to let the Danish international leave but it seems that the fans will get to enjoy him for the rest of this season.
