The heartfelt message Richarlison just sent to Tottenham fans hints at his summer transfer plans
Tottenham’s season ended on Sunday with a 4-1 defeat to Brighton, despite taking an early lead through Solanke’s penalty.
Ange Postecoglou set an unwanted record as Spurs suffered their 22nd defeat of the campaign, finishing 17th in the league. They were perhaps fortunate that the relegated teams performed even worse.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
16 | 38 | 12 | 6 | 20 | 54 | 69 | -15 | 42 | |
17 | 38 | 11 | 5 | 22 | 64 | 65 | -1 | 38 | |
18 | 38 | 6 | 7 | 25 | 33 | 80 | -47 | 25 |
Despite the dismal league campaign, the mood at the stadium remained upbeat following Wednesday’s historic 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final, ending the club’s 17-year trophy drought.
With the mixed season coming to an end, focus now shifts to a summer of uncertainty.
The manager’s future at Spurs remains unclear, despite winning over the fans, with Levy expected to sack Ange this summer, despite Tottenham fans now backing Ange to stay. And it’s not just the manager – several players are expected to be moved on, including Richarlison.

Richarlison posts emotional message for Tottenham fans amid exit links
Richarlison has been linked with a move away from Tottenham since the January transfer window.
Saudi Pro League wanted to sign him in the winter transfer window but Richarlison shut down a move to Saudi at that time.
The Brazilian is now attracting strong interest from his former side. It is reported that Everton wants to sign Richarlison back, with David Moyes pushing for a transfer.
And with Tottenham keen on cashing in on him as well, he may have played his final game for Spurs against Brighton.
After the game Richarlison posted an emotional message on Instagram for the fans: “When this season started, all I wanted was to be healthy so I could help my team have a better year. I knew it would be important for me mentally and also to finally give back in some way the love I’ve received over the last few years from Spurs fans and everyone who supports me.
“No one said it would be easy, but I also never imagined it would be so difficult. There were days and nights of anxiety, treatments, pain and torture that seemed to have no end. But it did!
“And it was when I returned to Brazil for a week in February, after yet another injury, that things started to change.
“Being around my family in those days changed a lot for me. It made me feel like the old Charlie, the boy who just wanted to play football.
“Being on the field has always been therapeutic for me, even before I discovered the power of therapy. It’s my best medicine and the thing that cures almost all of my problems.
“And that’s how, playing football without fear, without apprehension, until my legs couldn’t take it anymore from tiredness and cramps, I left the field on Wednesday. With a trophy in my hands, my heart full of joy and with my team, so discredited during the season, champion!
“Thank you to everyone who was by my side and was part of this special moment, always believing in me and encouraging me even in the most difficult moments. Thank you to Tottenham – board, players, coaching staff, employees – and to all my staff – for making it all happen together! Let’s go for more!”
Everton very keen on bringing Richarlison back
Tottenham signed Richarlison from Everton in 2022 in a £60m deal, but the Brazilian has struggled to live up to the expectations.
The 28-year-old’s time at Spurs has been marred by injuries, fitness problems and inconsistent form.
He has only scored 20 goals in 90 appearances for the club across all competitions in three years.
At Everton, he was a far more influential figure, scoring 53 goals and providing 15 assists in just over 150 games.
Club | Games | Goals | Assists |
Tottenham | 90 | 20 | 10 |
Everton | 152 | 53 | 15 |
With the World Cup coming up next year, Richarlison’s decision could be factored around the tournament.
He has a great record from Brazil, but TBR Football understands Richarlison has been informed that he needs to be playing regularly next season to be considered for the squad.
He has found regular playing time at Tottenham difficult, especially after the club signed Solanke from Bournemouth last summer. This would make Everton Richarlison’s best option for a switch.
