‘The hardest bargain’: Redknapp highlights key figure in Kane Tottenham exit talks

Having managed Tottenham for four years, there are few people better placed to shed light on the club’s process regarding transfers.

Despite the season still being weeks away from completion, it looks like the summer’s biggest transfer saga is already becoming clear.

reported on Friday that Harry Kane will push for a transfer at the end of the current campaign if Jose Mourinho’s side fail to secure a Champions League place.

Kane has been on sparkling form as ever, but is set to see another season go by without having secured any silverware.

While Mourinho would no doubt be reluctant to part with his star man, Redknapp believes that the key player in any negotiations surrounding Kane’s future will be chairman Daniel Levy.

With three years remaining of his contract and likely interest from some of the top clubs in world football, Kane would be certain to command a significant fee.

Speaking on , Redknapp said: “The deal would be done between his agent and Daniel, really.

“Jose would do his best to say to him ‘Look, I want you to stay, you know you’re so important to me’, but he’d know that anyway, but the deal would come down to what’s done between Daniel and it would all come down to Daniel.

“He ain’t going to go unless Daniel gets a deal that he wants, make no mistakes. He’s not going to just say ‘Well yeah Harry, we all love you, you’ve been great for us’. Daniel drives the hardest bargain in the world.

“Unless he gets what he wants, and it’s a deal that suits Tottenham, if he’s got to go, then he won’t go.

“He’s going to demand a king’s ransom for him, give him the money to buy whoever he wants to buy and rebuild the team.

“Unless he gets that, then Harry won’t be going anywhere.”
