Newcastle United fans can look ahead to an exciting 2022 in wake of the club’s long-awaited takeover.

Although the Magpies are currently battling relegation from the Premier League, the club now has some serious financial muscle.

The next few transfer windows could prove exciting for Newcastle fans amid links to some high-profile players.

One such player reportedly on the radar of Newcastle is Ousmane Dembele, one of the world’s most expensive footballers.

that the 24-year-old Barcelona star is open to joining the Magpies next summer, when he becomes a free agent.

In addition, reported that Newcastle are one of just several Premier League sides eyeing Dembele.

As well as the Magpies, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham are keeping tabs on the Frenchman.

Dembele joined Barca in the summer of 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for a (£97million) fee plus add-ons.

Dembele arrived in Catalonia to much fanfare, but injuries have sadly hampered his time at the club.

The Frenchman has made 118 appearances for Barca, registering 30 goals and 21 assists, and has won five trophies at the club.

Dembele, who is yet to play for his club this term, is out of contract next summer.

Despite his injury troubles, he is highly rated, and would be an incredible marquee signing for Newcastle.

This week, Bayern Munich and Germany star Serge Gnabry shared his opinion on Dembele, claiming he is better than Kylian Mbappe.

Amazon Prime is currently filming a documentary on the Bundesliga giants, entitled “Behind the Legend”.

The quotes Gnabry as saying: “The best player between Dembele and Mbappe? For me, it’s Dembele.”
