‘The best out there’: Peter Crouch urges Liverpool to sign Dayot Upamecano
Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has urged the Reds to go out and sign a new defender and, specifically, Dayot Upamecano if they can.
🌠Upamecano is hot property in Europe and is thought to be high on the agenda of a number of clubs. Bayern Munich have been linked, while reports today suggest new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel could also make a move. ()

𝕴Liverpool, meanwhile, continue to struggle defensively and have been playing Fabinho and even Jordan Henderson there this season.
🔥And speaking to today (quotes via ), Crouch has claimed Liverpool need to try and get Upamecano if they can.
“Everyone in football can see that they need a centre-half. You’d think they would bring someone in before the deadline,” Crouch said.
“There are so many top centre-halves out there. Upamecano is a top centre-half, I think he’s one of the best in Europe. He’s the best one out there if they can possibly get him.”

Jamie Carragher made a similar call back in October. The Sky Sports pundit also called for Upamecano to be considered.
ꦛJurgen Klopp has played down talk of any big moves in January, though. And with just days remaining in the window, it seems increasinly unlikely Liverpool will splash the cash.
TBR View: A common name, but there’s a reason Upamecano keeps getting mentioned
🌠Like Crouch says, the RB Leipzig man is one of the best out there at the moment. He’s already of high calibre and at just 22, he’ll go on to get even better and better.
𒉰He won’t cost too much either. A number of reports claim he has a release clause of less than £50m in his contract. In terms of modern game transfer fees, that isn’t too much.
🅺Upamecano would be superb. The big question is whether Liverpool can afford such a deal.
