As luck would have it, a top-class goalkeeper has become available for nothing just as Rangers and Celtic are both in pursuit of a new stopper.

Gerrard is two goalkeepers short after Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick saw their contracts expire, while Lennon only has one senior goalkeeper still on the books – Scott Bain.

Speaking about Hladky, Alex Rae told the in March: “For me he’s at least 10 points of a difference because he is one of the stand-out goalkeepers in the division.”

For his former coach to also praise him so highly will surely be further food for thought for Gerrard and Lennon.
