‘That’s garbage’… Alan Brazil fuming after what £17m Tottenham player did last weekend

Pundit Alan Brazil has now been discussing the recent shortcomings of a Tottenham Hotspur player after a disappointing late draw at Everton.

Ange Postecoglou’s side started the game very well with Richarlison netting at his old club; and once the Brazilian put Spurs ahead again, it looked like three points were secured.

However, a late Jarrad Branthwaite equaliser – a player Tottenham have been linked with, left a sour taste.

A draw is by no means a bad result away at Goodison Park, but the win was well within Spurs’ sights.

And when speaking on today, both Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist were both disappointed with the role Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario played in both goals.

Both did have sympathy for Vicario, who has been brilliant at Spurs on the whole, but felt he was an easy target for Everton.

Alan Brazil left really frustrated with Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario

Discussing the issue this morning, Brazil said: “Spurs. Surely the keeper has got to come for that on the final goal? The keeper has to make a decision and get his fists to it.

McCoist replied: “I’m going to tell you something. That keeper has been excellent since he came to Spurs, Vicario.

“However, he was culpable for the goal against Man City in the cup, where it was from a corner. And Sean Dyche and Everton played on that, particularly in the first half.”

Brazil: “By the way I don’t like it, I think it’s impeding the goalkeeper.

“I can’t believe that’s allowed. They are intentionally stopping the keeper coming. He’s out there and then he back pedals on to his line, not good.”

Brazil added: “Well done Everton for showing commitment and battle, but when he is nodding it in a yard from the line that’s garbage.”

Of course, Vicario will probably be the first to admit he does need to improve.

There is a defence

That being said, one goalkeeping expert has now defended how Vicario has dealt with set-pieces of late.

Data would suggest that the Italian isn’t underperforming in such situations, in fact, he’s above the Premier League average.

However, the eye-test would suggest otherwise, Vicario isn’t oozing confidence.

Therefore, even a few Tottenham fans may agree with Alan Brazil’s broader sentiments that Vicario needs to improve.

However, given how well the keeper has started in North London, he should be afforded that patience.

And speaking of patience, Spurs should finally have a vital player back in their side this weekend.
