‘That’s a strange one’… Ally McCoist can’t believe £40m Arsenal target could be getting sold this month
Pundit Ally McCoist has now been discussing the future of one midfielder who’s recently been linked with a surprise move to Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side aren’t thought likely to spend in January, however, the sale of a few players on the periphery of things could change that late on.

The likes of Cedric Soares, Nuno Tavares and potentially even Thomas Partey could leave before Wednesday’s deadline.
And should that be the case, then Arsenal would surely be in a strong position to welcome a new name to the Emirates.
Although a striker is the priority in the eyes of most fans, that’s one that will wait until the summer.
The arrival of a midfielder or a versatile defender would seem most likely if anything this month.
And following Brighton & Hove Albion’s advances, it became clear that Arsenal held considerable interest in Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Moreover, on the back of that Arsenal interest, Ally McCoist has now admitted his surprise that the midfielder could be on the move.
Ally McCoist would be shocked if midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left Leicester amid Arsenal links
McCoist was speaking with Jeff Stelling on this morning and thought there was no reason at all for Leicester to sell one of their star men this month.
The duo were unanimous on Dewsbury-Hall’s talent, but McCoist simply couldn’t buy into the idea of Leicester selling.

Stelling initially said: “A lot of talk at the moment isn’t there about Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, maybe leaving Leicester City.”
McCoist replied: “That’s a strange one. Why would Leicester let Dewsbury-Hall go?”
Stelling: “I honestly don’t know, but Brighton are amongst those who are very, very, very interested.
“And you would be because he’s a really top player. 25 years of age, just approaching his peak, he would be a great buy for someone.”
McCoist: “Absolutely, and I totally agree with that, but if you’re Leicester, there’s absolutely no way you’re selling him at this point.”
And although it seems unlikely that the Leicester midfielder will join Arsenal in the coming days, McCoist would probably be the first to point out how good he could look in North London.
Perhaps the number eight role often filled by Kai Havertz could be perfect for Dewsbury-Hall, a player who often showcased his talent back in the Premier League.
That being said, Arsenal are likely to see a big shift in their transfer plans if Mikel Arteta leaves the club in the summer.
But as hoped, Guillem Balague has now been rubbishing those rumours.
