‘That Villa crowd’: Gabriel Agbonlahor has warning for Steven Gerrard about what Aston Villa fans might do this weekend
Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has sent a warning to Steven Gerrard about what fans at Villa Park might do this weekend.
, ahead of their fixture against Everton this weekend.
Gerrard got off to a poor start against Premier League new-boys Bournemouth last Saturday as his side fell to a 2-0 defeat on the opening day.
And Agbonlahor thinks the Villa faithful could ‘turn’ if their side goes 1-0 down on Saturday.

Agbonlahor has warning for Gerrard
“I think both of them are under pressure but maybe Gerrard more,” .
“He’s built a squad of players, Gerrard, that are ready to compete. Aston Villa should be finishing, for me, top 10 with that squad of players.
“He’s been given the money to bring [Philippe] Coutinho, another centre-half in [Diego] Carlos, a centre-midfielder Kamara, he’s been given money to spend.
“Look at that squad of players of Aston Villa, they should be competing this season and finishing top 10.
“He will know that he will be under pressure if he doesn’t deliver that because the board have pumped a lot of money into Aston Villa Football Club.
“They’re putting money into bettering the stadium, the academies got a lot of money pumping into it.
“So, Steven Gerrard will know Aston Villa need to finish in the top 10 and in the next few seasons, looking at getting into them European places.
“That Aston Villa squad needs to be finishing in the top 10 this season and it will be a great game Saturday, Everton at home to get a result but that Villa crowd Ally [McCoist], if we go 1-0 down, they’ll be ready to turn.”

Villa ended up finishing fourteenth last season after Gerrard replaced former boss Dean Smith back in November last year.
The Liverpool legend got off to a good start at Villa Park but his side were underwhelming for large parts of last season.
Gerrard will be hoping to see his side improve over the coming weeks and aim for a much higher finish in the Premier League this season.
