‘That is ridiculous’… Pundit says £12m Aston Villa player is outrageously good now

It’s difficult to put into words just how much Aston Villa have improved this past 12 months.

When Steven Gerrard left the club, Villa looked like genuine relegation candidates, but now, they’re on course to challenge for the Premier League title.

Unai Emery has made this team so much better, and there are a number of individuals whose game has come on leaps and bounds under the Spaniard.

Ezri Konsa has become a bona fide superstar under Emery, and speaking to , Pat Nevin has been full of praise for the man claiming that he’s become one of the very best defenders in the league.

Konsa has become ridiculously good

Nevin spoke highly of the defender.

“I’ve had a real close look at Konsa and I’m thinking ‘for goodness sake that is ridiculous’ The quality of full-backs, he’s up there. He’s absolutely and utterly brilliant,” Nevin said.

Southgate take notice

Ezri Konsa received his first England call-up last month, but it surely won’t be long now before he gets his first cap.

The 26-year-old continues to go from strength to strength whether he’s playing a centre-back or at right-back, and Gareth Southgate has to take notice.

Konsa is perfect for this England team, his ability to play both on the right or in the middle make him a great option for either a back four or a back five, and we have to imagine he will be headed to the Euros come the end of the season if he keeps this up.

Of course, whether or not he heads to the Euros as a Premier League champion remains to be seen, but after three remarkable results on the spin, it’s hard to write Villa off in this title race right now.

Konsa has been utterly fantastic this season.
