‘That can change’… £120,000-a-week Arsenal player told to follow Harry Maguire’s lead

Graeme Souness has given his verdict on Arsenal and England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale amid his current situation.

The Liverpool legend has said that Ramsdale needs to follow the example of Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire.

So, what has Graeme Souness said about Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to Graeme Souness, Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale should look at Harry Maguire and follow the example of the Manchester United and England international central defender.

The Liverpool legend has noted how Maguire is starting to play again for United after almost leaving the Red Devils in the summer of 2023.

The pundit believes that Ramsdale needs to be patient during this tough period and has urged him not to let his father fight for him in the media.

Ramsdale has lost his place in the Arsenal starting lineup. Manager Mikel Arteta prefers David Raya to the England international now.

Souness wrote in : “It is time for Aaron Ramsdale to do his own fighting, rather than his dad doing it for him after his appearance .

“The Arsenal goalkeeper has to show what he is made of and deal with the situation in which he finds himself. Mikel Arteta fancies David Raya more than he does Ramsdale right now, but that can change.

“I would ask him to look at the example of Harry Maguire. He took all the criticism on the chin, all the disappointment. He dealt with it and finds himself back in the team at Manchester United.

“Scott McTominay, too. He was being pushed out the door at the start of the season, and now he’s in the side. That’s football.

“For Ramsdale, this a tough, mental challenge. He cannot point to anything he’s done wrong on a consistent basis that has cost him his place in the team.

“Sport at the highest level can be cruel and can be seen to be unfair. But there is only one person who can right that perceived injustice — and .”

Aaron Ramsdale should consider his Arsenal future in 2024 summer

In my opinion, Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale should consider his future at the end of the season.

There has been speculation regarding Chelsea and Ramsdale. I do not think that the 25-year-old should look at a potential exit from the Gunners in the January transfer window.

David Raya has not been great for Arsenal. The Spain international goalkeeper has made mistakes.

There have been occasions when Raya has looked nervous when put under pressure by the opposition’s pressing.

I believe that Ramsdale could get his chance for Arsenal soon. If Raya continues to make mistakes, then manager Mikel Arteta will surely drop him. He simply has to.

However, if Ramsdale does not regain his place in the Arsenal starting lineup by the end of the season, then he has to consider his future.

The former Sheffield United star is only 25. The £120,000-a-week () goalkeeper is too good to sit on the bench, especially when he has proved that he is capable of playing for a big club like Arsenal.
