Teddy Sheringham shares what some Tottenham fans are getting wrong ahead of Crystal Palace game
Tottenham Hotspur cult hero Teddy Sheringham has shared what he feels some Spurs fans are getting wrong in terms of their expectations in certain games.
Sheringham, speaking on , believes games involving Tottenham up against the likes of Wolves and Crystal Palace require “hard graft”.
The former Spurs striker claimed that some fans “expect Tottenham to roll these teams over”, but stressed “it doesn’t work like that”.
Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs charges are finally back in action this weekend after not being involved a week ago due to Chelsea’s participation in the Carabao Cup final.
Tottenham went into the enforced break on a low note, having fallen to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Wolves on 17 February.

Now, Spurs have another game against a mid-table side as they welcome Oliver Glasner’s Eagles to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Palace head to north London on the back of a morale-boosting 3-0 win over Burnley last week, their new manager’s first game.
“It was a tough result for Tottenham to take last (time out) losing to Wolves,” said Sheringham.
“These are the games that Tottenham fall down on.
“The ones which the fans turn up to and they expect Tottenham to roll these teams over but it doesn’t work like that in football.
“You have to do the hard graft and wear teams down.”
Teddy Sheringham hails ‘fantastic’ Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou
Sheringham also praised Postecoglou for the work he had done in getting Spurs back into a healthy position from the woes of last season.
“The feel good factor over at Tottenham is great,” he added. “Postecoglou has come in, taking the game to the opposition and controlling the ball.
“I think he has been fantastic, a breath of fresh air, but they need to get down to the hard nitty gritty this weekend and make sure they get a result.”
Tottenham will be raring to go and make amends for their disappointing loss to Wolves last time out, but they’re up against a solid team that could benefit from the new manager bounce.
Spurs will have to be at their best to get all three points out of this game, and with the top-four race being hotly contested, it’s a crucial match for the north Londoners.
