TBR view: Tottenham need to pursue Gabriel Barbosa, who has a £17m release clause
Tottenham are in desperate need of a striker with Harry Kane ruled out until the end of the season. The England captain was the club’s only senior striker and they are now in the market for a replacement. Jose Mourinho should seriously consider a move for Inter striker Gabriel Barbosa.
The 23-year-old striker has attracted plenty of interest after an impressive loan spell with Brazilian side Flamengo. He scored 34 goals and made 11 assists in 43 appearances for the club in what was an inspired period of form. The striker has since returned to Italy but is not in Antonio Conte’s plans.

has reported that Inter Milan will let go of Barbosa for 20 million Euros (£17 million). It seems like a small fee for a player that has so recently proven his natural ability to score goals. The only worry for Spurs will be the quality gap between the Brazilian league and the English Premier League.
Barbosa could find it tough to adapt to England and Mourinho could be left with a problem striker. However, at £17 million, the risk is relatively small. It could prove to be a bargain if the young striker can produce anywhere near the output he did in Brazil.

Tottenham have also been linked with Willian Jose of Real Sociedad. have reported that talks have begun between the two clubs. While that could prove to be a good move, Barbosa is five years younger than his compatriot and could develop into a top striker under a world-class manager.
