TBR View: Tottenham may have new version of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose combination
Despite a brilliant run to the Champions League final in the 2018/19 season, Tottenham were at their ultimate best under Mauricio Pochettino a couple of years prior to that and fans still feel they missed a big opportunity to win a Premier League title.
Spurs were such a well balanced team all over the park and one big part of their success was in the full-back areas.
The North London club had a combination of English duo Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, who were both in the peak years and strong in both offensive and defensive areas.
Despite Kieran Trippier’s strong efforts, Spurs never really managed to replace powerhouse right-back Walker following his exit to Manchester City in 2017.
Meanwhile, Rose’s form has declined massively in the past couple of years and he was even loaned out last season to Newcastle United after falling out of favour with current manager Jose Mourinho.
But it looks like Spurs may have a new version of the Walker-Rose combination after some impressive summer spending.

Spurs have managed to sign Matt Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanders and during the last couple of years he excelled at Premier League level as a right wing-back at Molineux.
The 28-year-old left Wolves in pursuit of even bigger things in his career and he’s got all the attributes with his energy out wide to be a major success.
Mourinho’s side have also recently signed left-back Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, who dazzled last season during a loan spell at Sevilla and has moved to the Premier League on a permanent basis.
The 23-year-old speed machine is already a senior Spain international that looks like he could be a long-term solution at left-back for Spurs and fans should be excited about seeing him.
Liverpool’s success in the past two years has been largely helped by their dominant full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson, so it looks like Spurs have learned from that and may now have their own combination.
