TBR View: Liverpool star reportedly rejected West Ham in 2018, but Hammers should go again

Liverpool are likely to have a summer shake-up in order to keep Jurgen Klopp’s side fresh ahead of the 2020-21 campaign and that may mean some players are told to leave – and West Ham United have got to take advantage.

that six players could leave Liverpool in the summer, including Xherdan Shaqiri – with the report stating there is an ‘inevitability’ that the 28-year-old will leave Anfield. He has managed just 10 appearances this season.

Indeed, it is clear Liverpool are willing to wave goodbye as the The Reds will be willing to sanction an exit for Shaqiri if interested parties pay £28million. That could place West Ham on red alert.

in 2018, Shaqiri rejected a move to West Ham. Having been relegated with Stoke City just over two years ago, the former Bayern Munich star was looking for a move.

But the report claims West Ham were rejected by Shaqiri in favour of a move to Anfield. Now, with the player seemingly looking as though he will depart Merseyside, The Hammers have got to go back in for Shaqiri.

More than able to afford his hefty asking price, West Ham need attacking midfielders ahead of the new season – if of course, they survive relegation. Felipe Anderson has been below par, while Manuel Lanzini is a shadow of his former self.

Certainly, Shaqiri has plenty of life left in him despite becoming surplus to requirements at Anfield. In 114 Premier League appearances, he has had a hand in 40 goals – scoring an impressive 22 times and creating 18. Only 97 have been starts.

A move to West Ham would be a match made in heaven. Shaqiri would finally be first choice at a club that have aspirations of a top-half finish, and have the financial power to push for Europe. Shaqiri could be the difference for West Ham.
