TBR View: Liverpool need to elbow Everton aside for Italian, as Divock Origi linked with exit

Divock Origi was a surprise inclusion as the Mirror listed six Liverpool players that could leave the club in the upcoming summer window – and if the Belgian does leave, Jurgen Klopp needs to battle local rivals Everton for the ideal replacement.

The report claims Origi could leave Anfield this summer, along with Nathaniel Clyne, Xherdan Shaqiri, Dejan Lovren, Naby Keita and Loris Karius – despite Origi being a fan favourite after his heroics in the Champions League last season.

Origi, 24, scored a brace against Barcelona in the semi-final and then again in the final against Tottenham. However, after 134 appearances for Liverpool, it is believed the Belgian may look to leave – and join a side where he is considered first choice.

Without Origi, Liverpool do not have cover for Roberto Firmino – and certainly they lack a plan B. A new striker could be required, and if that is the case, Klopp has got to consider a move for Italy international Ciro Immobile.

30-year-old Immobile is a target for Everton this summer, as the 39-time Italy international continues to shine for Lazio. The former Dortmund and Juventus striker has scored 30 goals in 33 games.

Indeed, 27 of those goals have come in 26 Serie A appearances  – as well as laying on seven assists. What should convince Klopp to sign Immobile, is that it would be the second time the German manager lands the Italian.

At Dortmund, Klopp signed Immobile for a fee £14million in the summer of 2014. Although he only scored 10 goals in 34 Dortmund appearances – it is clear that Klopp is an admirer of Immobile.

If Origi leaves, Liverpool and Klopp have got to rival their Merseyside enemies for Immobile – and sign the Italian for a second time.
