TBR View: Could reported Wolves deal help Liverpool land Adama Traore?

Liverpool have reportedly agreed to allow Loris Karius to join Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan for the 2020-21 campaign as the Midlands side look for a back-up goalkeeper – but could such a deal help Liverpool in their pursuit of a Spanish attacker?

Turkish outlet Fanatik have claimed that Wolves have agreed a move to Liverpool to sign 26-year-old Karius on loan, with John Ruddy’s contract expiring in June. Karius has spent the past two seasons on loan at Turkish side Besiktas.

Karius has now been handed the opportunity to play for Wolves next season, with the German likely to be handed cup games and the chance to shine in the Europa League. If he agrees to the move, he could hand Liverpool a huge transfer boost.

Indeed, the former Barcelona star has scored twice against Manchester City, and that has caught the eye of both Premier League sides. The Reds face a tall order to fend off the riches of Pep Guardiola’s side in the reported pursuit, though.

With Liverpool said to have agreed a move with Wolves for Karius, the relationship between the two clubs at transfer level will have improved. Indeed, Liverpool are seen to be doing Wolves a favour by handing them a back-up goalkeeper.

Liverpool need to use that favour by only allowing Karius to join Wolves if they are given preference in any deal for Traore – or even include the goalkeeper in a move. Either way, Karius’ move could prove beneficial in Liverpool’s Traore pursuit.

Two years since he last played for Liverpool, Karius could really help The Reds complete a big-money swoop for Traore – as part of a deal, or in handing Liverpool the chance to redeem a favour.
