TBR View: Conte would much rather sell Spurs-linked star, than reported Liverpool target
Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan have impressed this season, breaking into the top three of Serie A and pushing Juventus for much of the campaign before eventually tailing off – but Conte would surely rather help Tottenham over Liverpool in the window.
Inter have a number of options at centre-back and it has seen veteran Diego Godin struggle for game time. Indeed, the 34-year-old has completed 90 minutes on just eight separate occasions under Conte this season in Serie A.
Though he has managed 16 outings in Italy’s top tier, he has been subbed on in four, and subbed off in four. An icon at Atletico Madrid, the 135-time Uruguay international is not quite as legendary with the Nerrazzuri.
that Tottenham are now interested in luring Godin to north London, despite Jose Mourinho being rejected by Godin during the summer of 2018 to go to Manchester United. Conte has a decision to make.

That is because Liverpool want to sign another Inter Milan defender, in the form of Alessandro Bastoni. , who cost the Italian side £28million from Atalanta.
With 14 years separating Godin and Bastoni, the Inter duo are at completely different stages in their career – but in a very similar situation under Conte. With the ex-Chelsea boss unlikely to sell both, he has a decision to make.
Does he place his faith in the potential of Bastoni and allow Tottenham to lure Godin to the Premier League? Or, does he trust experience and cash in on Bastoni – with the youngster’s price tag likely to far exceed the figure Inter paid Atalanta.
Surely, offloading Godin and placing his faith in Bastoni would be the better move going forward – with the Liverpool-linked star showing enormous potential. Conte has got to help Spurs by selling Godin and disappoint Liverpool – by keeping Bastoni.
