According to the , Arsenal have rejected a £5 million bid from Brentford for Folarin Balogun. Meanwhile, AC Milan are also showing an interest in the 18-year-old academy forward.

The teenager has been in prolific form for the Gunners’ youth outfit this season. He has already bagged seven goals and four assists for the North London club’s second string, as per stats. Previously, for the under-18s, he racked up 25 goals in a single, title-winning campaign.

🥃Mikel Arteta will surely be keeping tabs on the young marksman’s progress. It can only be a matter of time before the Emirates Stadium faithful get their first glimpse of Balogun in the senior team. That is, of course, if the Gunners can keep hold of him. Interest from Brentford may well have turned Balogun’s head, as first-team football would certainly be easier to come by in the Championship. Arsenal must takes now take steps to avoid potentially losing Balogun for good.

TBR’s view

Arsenal should secure a loan move for Balogun in this window. The youngster needs to be playing at a higher level than the academy side. For the good of his development, he must experience senior football sooner rather than later.

A loan switch to a Championship club should help Balogun achieve this. What’s more, it will keep Balogun happy, and give him a better chance of competing for a place in Arteta’s side upon his return.

Whilst at this stage the Gunners were absolutely correct to dismiss Brentford’s bid, they should be actively seeking a loan switch for their exciting young attacking talent.
